A total of two TransJakarta buses had consecutive accidents on Jalan MT Haryono, Pancoran, South Jakarta, Monday (25/10) morning. Traffic Director of Metro Jaya Police Kombes Sambodo Purnomo Yogo revealed that as many as 30 people were victims in the incident.
“Initial information there are 30 injuries and three people died, but to date we are still data. The victim died one driver and two passengers,” Sambodo said at the scene.
The police officer said that the deceased victim had been taken to the Police Hospital, Kramat Jati, East Jakarta. Meanwhile, the injured victim received treatment at Budi Asih Hospital, Cawang.
Sambodo explained that the accident began when one of the TransJakarta buses that was stopped at the busway stop was hit from behind.
He explained the bus that was hit shifted as far as 15 meters from its initial position when it stopped. “So, he pushed it at a pretty high speed,” he continued.
Sambodo confirmed it would conduct an investigation into the cause of the collision.
“Whether this is human error means negligence of the driver, drowsiness, and so on, or this could be the brakes not working,” sambodo said.
