“Europe is now starting to make Indonesia as one of the alternative investment destinations. After we reviewed our data at our programme office in Europe, the Netherlands is now a hub when the UK leaves the EU,” Bahlil said.
Bahlil also highlighted the competition taking place between Japan and South Korea. The two countries in eastern Asia are now chasing each other as the largest contributor of investment to the archipelago.
Now South Korea is in the 5th position with investment contributions reaching US $ 1.1 billion. Race Japan in the 6th position with an investment contribution of US $ 1 billion.
“Interestingly, it’s South Korea. He had just surpassed Japan until the first semester. There is competition between Korea and Japan,” Bahlil said.
According to him, Indonesia has never discriminated against countries that want to inject investment into the archipelago. He said the government positioned Indonesia neutrally, to be in the middle and accept all countries. Precisely according to him, it would be wrong if there is a presumption that Indonesia only gets investment from one country only.
“It’s wrong to assume we’re focused on a specific country. Indonesia is not governed by any particular country. We must always be midfielders, all countries can enter with fair rules, there is no special treatment,” Bahlil said.
Continuing the list of countries with the largest investment to Indonesia, in the 7th position there is the United States with a realization of US $ 800 million. Furthermore in position 8 there is Malaysia with the realization of US $ 700 million.
The last two countries in the top 10, there is Switzerland with a realization of US $ 500 million and Thailand with a realization of US $ 300 million.
