President Jokowi Wants Indonesian Scouts to Be Optimistic in Seeing the Future

President Joko Widodo attended the Commemoration Ceremony of the 60th Scout Day 2021 virtually from the Bogor Palace, West Java, Saturday (14/8). At the event the President invited Indonesian scouts to be optimistic about the future to get out of the Covid-19 pandemic together by complying with health protocols and accelerated vaccination.

“The main key to being able to get out of this pandemic is discipline in complying with health protocols and accelerating vaccinations to achieve communal immunity,” the President said in his mandate.

The Head of State said scout members must be able to convey messages to the public to continue to comply with health protocols. If someone does not comply, it must be given an understanding and explanation. Indonesian Scouts are asked to be at the forefront of protecting themselves, friends and family.

“If there are friends who do not comply with health protocols, they will be reminded. If there are friends who are 12 years old who have not been vaccinated, ask them to get vaccinated immediately. Indonesian Scouts must be the pioneers of discipline, especially discipline in carrying out health protocols, and discipline to avoid crowds,” said the President.

This year is the second year commemorating Scout Day in a pandemic atmosphere. Usually, Scout Day is commemorated with a ceremony in the field and attended by complete participants. However, now this is done virtually from each place with a limited number.

“Discipline is carrying out health protocols so that we are all protected from the spread of the COVID-19 virus. I express my gratitude to all scout members throughout the country, because during this pandemic, scouts work hand in hand with all elements of the nation to help deal with the pandemic in their respective environments,” said the President.

According to the President, this attitude is the true spirit of scouts and is willing to sacrifice to build others regardless of ethnic, religious and class differences. Indonesian Scouts must be an example, be a role model, be tough to face every challenge, and raise concern for others.

“I want to leave a message to all Indonesian scout members, study hard, anywhere, anytime, with anyone. Master science and technology as high as possible. Always adaptive to pursue technological advancements, keep up with the times quickly, be flexible and must be smart,” explained the President.

“Never forget the national identity, build a strong national character, practice the true values of Pancasila. Protect the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia and also take care of the relationship. Indonesian Scouts must also be optimistic about the future, continue to build hope for the glory of Indonesia,” added the President.

Virtually attended the Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia (Menpora RI) Zainudin Amali. Meanwhile, the Head of Scout Kwarnas Budi Waseso along with other ceremony participants took part in the activities via video conference. The entire series applies health protocols.
