Smuggling Lobster Seeds Worth Rp 15.3 M, Travel Driver in Palembang Arrested

Palembang Police secured two perpetrators FR (26) and FJ (32) who were caught carrying 98,620 lobster seeds or benur estimated at Rp 15.3 billion in Parameswara street, Palembang.

Palembang Police Chief, Kombes Pol Irvan Prawira Satyaputra, said the perpetrators smuggled lobster seeds of sand and pearls. The perpetrator claimed to be paid Rp 1 million and will be added Rp 1 million if he has reached the destination location.

“The perpetrator was secured along with evidence of lobster seeds wrapped in 26 boxes. Evidence will be brought to the Lubuklinggau area, South Sumatra,” he said, Friday (22/10).

Irvan said the arrest began with pidus unit officers’ suspicions of the perpetrator and examined the perpetrator’s black Toyota Kijang Innova. When examined it turned out to be true, the perpetrator brought lobster seeds and secured officers along with evidence.

“The perpetrator claimed not to know if what was brought was lobster seeds and they claimed to only be told to drive to Lubuklinggau,” Irvan said.

Irvan said, the perpetrator was ensnared in article 92 paragraph 1 with the threat of 8 years imprisonment and a maximum fine of Rp 1.5 billion. Previously, Palembang Police had arrested the perpetrator who brought lobster seeds.

Until now the total state losses reached Rp 38 billion the number of lobster seeds reached hundreds of thousands of tails.
